Now that California has approved gay marriage expect to see more Hollywood executives get married.Much to Katherine Heigl’s delight, I imagine, Isaiah Washington these days is letting his money do the talking. The NFL has hired experts to study game footage to determine whether players are displaying street-gang hand signals as part of their on-field celebrations, the Los Angeles Times reports.(Picture above captures various gang members using hand signals-White House Gang and MS-13 Gang)
“There have been some suspected things we’ve seen,” said Milt Ahlerich, the league’s vice president of security, according to the Times’ report. “When we see it, we quietly jump on it immediately, directly with the team and the player or employee involved to cease and desist. Period.”
Gang signs in pro sports gained a higher profile during the NBA playoffs, when Boston Celtics captain Paul Pierce was fined $25,000 for making “menacing gestures” toward the Atlanta Hawks’ bench during a game.

Jose Canseco, a former baseball badboy who has been at the center of the steroids controversy, found out quickly that you don’t mess with someone who has legitimately worked on his fight game. Ironically he was destroyed by another former pro athlete but this one was a Golden Gloves champ before his football career with more than 80 amateur fights, was giving away seven inches and 43 pounds. The size disadvantage had zero effect on what looked and sounded like a very angry Vai Sikahema: Former Philadelphia Eagle Vai Sikahema, 45, definitely has skills and showed them while pummeling Canseco in 97 seconds. Are people going to have to start putting their money under their mattresses? These economic headlines have just been off the hook, in a bad way, lately. Before we get into them though, here is something of interest. Death Row Records has been auctioned for $24 million. The New York-based Global Music Group Inc. said in a statement to The Associated Press on Monday that on June 24 it purchased Death Row, including its enviable back catalog and current artist contracts.

And now for the bad news….
2a) The continued rise in loan defaults and prolonged decline of house prices may lead to the closure of at least 150 of 7,500 U.S. banks in the next 12 to 18 months, analysts warned. IndyMac Bank closed on Friday after federal regulators took over its assets of $32 billion. It was the largest U.S. lender to close in over 20 years.
2b) Now that the federal government has thrown a lifeline to mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, taxpayers could be on the hook for billions more if the crisis of confidence spreads. Some critics said they fear the Fannie-Freddie rescue effort will make more bailouts inevitable by sending a message that some institutions are too big to fail and thus encouraging risky behavior.
